ABOUT OUR COMPANY...

In 1992 Dan and Jill Holmes brought out the original company of Duckett and Marsden. With a staff level of three on the workshop floor the original company produced around 30 kitchens per year. Within only a few months of the change of ownership the production of kitchens had been increased to about 115 per year with the addition of one other person within the factory.

To achieve this increase in production it had been necessary to structure both the office and factory areas along the lines of some of the bigger and more successful companies found around the world.

1993 saw the introduction of computer drawn kitchens. The kitchens were then priced directly off these drawings and the drawings went into the factory for cutting lists to be obtained and the kitchen to be made.

In 1995 with the introduction of windows '95 our computer software began to change and take on a whole new look and it is this software that we are currently using. Having been designed with full flexibility in mind we are not restricted to basic styles of cabinets. Curved units and doors can be both drawn and produced with minimum of effort. Cut lists with the accuracy to detail multi boring hole positions, hinge and drawer positions are now available. In fact, the accuracy of this program is down to the last screw being used for both the cost and assembly times.

While we specialise in the design and fabrication of high quality kitchens we are able to produce a wide range of different items to include shop fittings and exterior joinery to outdoor furniture.

2001 saw a further increase in staffing levels to cover the workload both within Taranaki and also the Tauranga and Auckland markets. Some 240 kitchens being produced each year and on top of this we still catered for several face-lifts to kitchens along with shop fit outs and other joinery work.

On 25th of August 2001 we moved our factory and showroom to 225 Courtenay Street in New Plymouth. This meant a higher profile for our showroom and we replaced all our showroom kitchens. Several viewing windows into the factory from the showroom mean that our clients can observe their kitchens being made without the danger of entering our construction zone.

February 2003. After international visits in 2002 to research the latest methods of kitchen construction, we ordered and installed new computer controlled cutting and edge banding machines. Introducing these to New Zealand, we now consider that we are leaders in the latest methods of using computers to nest and cut custom kitchen components. Some companies have recognized this and have followed us into this form of production. For others we produce either their complete kitchens or cut components for them to assemble.

Our factory is attached to the showroom and is one of the most modern to be found anywhere in New Zealand. Having the latest high quality routers and edge banding machinery run by the best of software has increased the quality and production taking us to being Taranaki’s largest manufacturing kitchen supplier and this is reflected in well priced and well made units.
